Quality is not a one-time achievement; it is a continuous journey of reflection, improvement, and excellence. It is particularly effective for highlighting the role of QEC in fostering a sustainable culture of quality and academic excellence.
The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), HANDS Institute of Development Studies (HANDS-IDS), successfully organized a comprehensive faculty training workshop titled “Program Review for Effectiveness & Enhancement (PREE) / Self-Assessment: Standards, Evidence & Best Practices” on 27 October 2026 at HANDS-IDS.
The workshop brought together faculty members, administrative staff, and students from various departments, reinforcing the importance of collective responsibility in promoting quality assurance and continuous academic improvement.
Dr. Rakhshinda Khurram, Deputy Director, QEC, served as the resource person and provided valuable insights into the PREE and self-assessment processes. The session focused on understanding PREE standards, maintaining supporting documentary evidence, preparing Self-Assessment Reports (SARs), and developing actionable improvement plans to strengthen academic programs and institutional effectiveness.
The interactive session highlighted the vital role of collaboration, evidence-based evaluation, accountability, and stakeholders’ engagement in fostering a sustainable culture of quality and continuous improvement.
The workshop concluded with remarks by the Prof. (Meritorious) Dr. Abuzar Wajidi. Rector, HANDS-IDS, who emphasized that quality enhancement is a continuous institutional commitment that requires a strong focus on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) to ensure meaningful teaching and learning outcomes. The Rector highlighted the importance of aligning Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) with Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) to ensure curriculum coherence, academic relevance, and the achievement of program objectives. Furthermore, the Rector underscored the active participation of students in the quality enhancement process, emphasizing that their feedback and engagement are essential for identifying areas for improvement, strengthening teaching and learning practices, and fostering a sustainable culture of academic excellence.
The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), HANDS-IDS, extends its sincere appreciation to all participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions towards this important initiative.
