The MS in Development Studies at HANDS-IDS equips students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to tackle development challenges creatively and collaboratively.
This program involves students in examining key development theories and practices, integrating historical insights with modern advancements. It aims to educate and empower students to become catalysts for change within their local communities. It also aims to foster quality research, generate solutions for socio-economic issues, and train students to apply their knowledge effectively. The program ultimately develops individuals who can identify development challenges, create innovative solutions, and implement them successfully.
MS – 2 Years Program: A degree earned from a recognized university (16 years of education) with at least 50% marks. After completing 16 years of education a candidate is eligible to enroll in MS Program
The MS in Development Studies offers a diverse array of career opportunities across both public and private sectors. Graduates may find positions in international development organizations, NGOs, government bodies, and research institutions. Potential career paths include project management, policy analysis, research, and advisory roles addressing issues such as poverty reduction, social equity, sustainable development, and human rights.
Furthermore, numerous graduates find employment with multinational corporations, think tanks, and social enterprises, where they engage in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability initiatives. The interdisciplinary nature of this degree also provides students with versatile skills suited for careers in advocacy, consultancy, and global development programs.

Intra-disciplinary Admissions (For candidates from other fields)
HANDS-IDS encourage the applicants from other fields also. They can get admission in MS program based on justified recommendations from the Admission Committee and approval of the competent authority, he/she is supposed to do 6-9 Credit Hours of deficiency courses of level 6 as foundation courses.
The number of deficiency courses varies depending upon the recommendations of the Admission Committee from the following list:

✔ Introduction to Community Development
✔ Introduction to Development Studies
✔ Introduction to Environmental Sciences
✔ Introduction to Social Healthcare
✔ Introduction to Sociology
✔ Public Policy
✔ Social Welfare Administration

* Candidates from the other academic background are supposed to do 6-9 CH of deficiency courses of level 6 as foundation course and these courses should be from relevant discipline to be recommended by the Interview/Admission Committee.
